Charles Daudelin had an attraction to the fantasy imagery of Surrealism and an admiration for the work of Alfred Pellan, who similarly maintained references to nature in his whimsical abstractions. He proposed his own sensuous and organic vision of the figure in an effort to achieve, in his words, a kind of “ripening of the forms”.
