Born in Riviere Pentecote, Quebec, in 1926, Claude Lesauteur studied at the Quebec School of Fine Arts under Jean-Paul Lemieux, Jean Dallaire and Omer Parent. He was elected to the Royal Canadian Academy in 1989. His graphic compositions juxtapose the curve of a shoulder with that of a mountain, the human form with the forest. A controlled but dynamic style of modernism could best describe the work of Claude Lesauteur. His paintings have been shown extensively throughout Quebec and Ontario since 1976.
