Jean Soucy

1915 Isle-Verte - 2003 Québec

After thirty years of successful career as a draftsman, painter and art teacher, Jean Soucy puts an end to his artistic work when he is nominated in June 1967 as Head of the Musée du Québec (today, Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec).

Less than fifty years later, the Exhibition Center of Lethbridge at the Bibliothèque du Boisé pays a tribute to the artist in a retrospective exhibition showing 58 works painted between 1939 and 1967.

The exhibition travelled to the National Exhibition Center in Saguenay (April 17-June 19, 2016), to Villa Bagatelle in Quebec City (September 28-December 18, 2016) and finally to the Museum of fine-arts in Sherbrooke (January 28-March 26, 2017)

Galerie Valentin is honoured and pleased to show to the Montreal public a few works by the artist.
