Born in Montreal in 1910, Beaulieu studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Montreal until earning enough money to travel to Paris in 1938. He bought a studio in Mont Parnasse and painted still lifes, landscapes, and figures in semi-abstract and modernistic styles. He was particularly interested in form and design and applied his paint liberally with a palette knife and a brush often using bright colours. Beaulieu's media included oils, watercolors, lithography and etching. He sold most of his work in Canada and died in Saint-Sauveur, Quebec in 1995. Examples of his work may be found in many corporate collections and most Canadian museums.
