Biography of Alfred HOLDSTOCK

 

BIOGRAPHY

Alfred Worsley Holdstock was born in England in 1820. He studied at Orford University. He arrived in Montreal in 1850 where he taught drawing from 1852 to 1873. He died in Montreal in 1901.

 

SUBJECT

His subjects include the Ottawa Valley, the Thousands Islands, the Laurentians, the Eastern Townships, and the Red River. Holdstock also represented Indian camps.

 

TECHNIQUE/MEDIUM

Holdstock worked with watercolour and pastel.
