Geneviève JOST

Compiegne, France, 1944

Genevieve grew up in Lorraine. She moved to Montreal in 1967 and upon her discovery of the american primitive painters, she herself began to paint on furniture and wood, and began her professional painting career in 1982. Her oil paintings represent pastoral country scenes, luxurious jungle scenes, and charming still-life fruits and vegetables. She has won prizes in many international competitions, notably the prestigious show of Primitve Art at Galerie Pro Arte Kasper in Switzerland where she won the silver medal.
