Born in 1937 in Marioka, Japan, Miyuki graduated from the Ecole des Beaux Arts at the
University of Tokyo. In 1962 and 1963 she worked at "La Grande Chaumière"
studio in Paris and studied at the Ecole Supérieure Nationale des Beaux Arts de
Paris. She moved to Montreal in 1971 and has been with Galerie Valentin since
1972. Miyuke works with nihonga on masonite. Her modern primitive works
depict with humour and a great sensitivity, everyday life in the working class
neighborhoods of Montreal. Her paintings can be found in many Canadian museums and
corporate collections.
