Born in 1937 in Marioka, Japan, Miyuki graduated from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music (Gei-Dai). In 1962 and 1963 she worked at La Grande Chaumière studio in Paris and studied at the Ecole Supérieure Nationale des Beaux Arts de Paris. She moved to Montreal in 1971 and has been with Galerie Valentin since 1972. Miyuke works with nihonga on Masonite. Her modern primitive works depict everyday life in the working class neighborhoods of Montreal with humour and great sensitivity. Her paintings can be found in the collections of many Canadian museums and corporations.
