Kitamé, Japan, 1937

Shokichi Sato he learned the lost wax process in Montreal from the master sculptor M.A. Montagutelli, a former teacher at l'École des beaux-arts In Paris. He has exhibited his charcoal and red chalk drawings as well as his bronze sculptures since 1986. His work always refers to the human form, but, according to the artist, "... as the work materializes, it becomes more complex through the transmutation of the animal and vegetal worlds and the world of inanimate objects."
